Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
Kendrick Peak summit with an overnight stay at the old cabin (10,000')
all water must be carried in. weather will be nice, 70° and 45°.
there is a meteor shower peak that weekend so shelters are optional, but bring one in case of rain.
we are leaving the valley on Sat morning and returning Sun mid-day. carpool arrangements are in order.
the scoop: The Perseid meteor shower takes place once every year. According to a news release, this year it is expected to have the highest number of shooting stars on the nights of August 11 through August 14.

This sounds great - can I bring my wife? are there any other considerations?

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
cool, Ty.
i think all that is needed is a shelter and sleeping arrangements rated to temps in the low 30's (to be safe)
I would also bring some rain gear, umbrella or something of that nature.
we would have to meet you there since we arent going to swing by Payson. Ok with you?

Stop by Lake Mary. I'll be there all weekend fishing with one of my friends from work. We'll be the two goobers in the smallest aluminum boat you've ever seen.

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
everyone on the east side of town can meet here in Fountain Hills- otherwise we will be at the trailhead by an estimated time of 10:30 am.
the hike is a short 4 miles so we will be at camp by 1:00 give or take time for lunch and photos. I dont feel like breaking a record to reach the top so I might slow down to 4 miles per hour.
tyrone, we might go thru payson to reach the flag area and stop by the lake to say hi to matt... its only about a 10 minute longer drive that way as opposed to going up the I-10
this is going to be fun

Please don't rearrange your schedule on my account. I have no idea right now what time I'll be up there anyway.te-wa wrote:tyrone, we might go thru payson to reach the flag area and stop by the lake to say hi to matt...

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
naw, its just easier to go up the Flag way on the backside. No Anthem, no large trucks, no traffic. Prettier drive too, IMO.
Just have to get Wally's approval. Im sure he wont mind. As it is, the hike is only 4 miles and there is no rush to the top.

Re: Kendrick peak with overnight 8/9-10
Id be fine with going through payson as well, maybe a little bit longer, but a much more enjoyable relaxing drive, when you compare it to driving through phoenix and the 17.

I won't be at Lake Mary till 1pm or possibly 2 pm. My buddy has family obligations in the morning.

He doesn't backpack, and honestly, I've done Kendrick a few times and catching pike at Lake Mary would be more fun to me.
