Water at Revis Ranch ... cont'd

Post by Redneck Ranger »

My thanks to all who offered info.
Superstition Guy... I do not know where the stream is N. of the orchard, any info you can give me (i.e. GPS coordinates) will be appreciated. I am backpacking, and will be coming in from the south (Queen Valley). Went in to rogers Trough a few weeks ago (1 day hike) so thought I would do the ranch for a 3 day trip. Any other tips?
Thanks again

The stream is Reavis Creek and flows through the valley from south to north. You will be hiking alongside of it and crossing it just prior to entering the open area where the ranch used to raise alphalpha. As you walk along this open area you may notice the old irrigation canel on your left alongside the west side of the valley. It carried water past the home site and on down to the orchard and next field. Somewhat beyound the north field you will pass through a wooded area and eventually find the remains of an old truck frame that had been converted into a trailor that was used to haul apples north to the Apache Trail. The wooden bed of this trailor is now gone and you can find pictures of it on HAZ. A hundred feet downstream from this trailor is the spring which flows into the creek from the west bank. It is within feet of the running stream and shouldn't be hard to find once you locate the old trailor. I used to keep a pipe in the spring allowing persons to fill their water bottles without having to deal with the mud and etc. I doubt that there is a pipe in the spring now but if you can find one amongst all the ranching debris please install it and bank some mud and rocks around it so water will flow through the pipe.
