Garmin Geko 101
A barely used Garmin Geko 101 GPS. I have the owners manual as well but I can't find it's box anymore. Spent most of it's time in a Rubbermaid in my closet, only used in the field maybe twice. In perfect working condition, no major scratches, one mark on the bottom that is barely noticeable
No man should go through life without once experiencing healthy, even bored solitude in the wilderness, finding himself depending solely on himself and thereby learning his true and hidden strength

Re: Garmin Geko 101
Somebody should take him up on this. The Gekos are (in my estimation) one of the best backpacking models for simple navigation. I have - and still use - a Geko 301 or I would be sorely tempted

Re: Garmin Geko 101
i am using this model to simply 1)mark waypoints of interesting locations and 2)use as a digital compass. (in conjunction with a map)
the recieving device is outdated and underpowered*, as far as new technology goes. Using WAAS mode the batteries last about 5 hours, while the claim is "up to 12". (sanyo eneloop, lithium rechargable - far better than alkaline disposables) So, i wouldnt use this for navigation necessarily unless using the 'tracback' feature, it doesnt have mapping capability nor does it allow the user to input a waypoint to track to, unless previously visited and marked. But for the weight, it makes a good digital compass and location tool. thanks, andrew for the deal. ;)
this one is going to replace the 201 model that i lost somewhere near Castersen seep. So, if you go out to the Mazatzals and find a green gps, its yours!
*i dunno for sure, but garmin stopped production of this model b/c of its weak antenna and low sales (now however, the little geko is quite pricey, and usually only found overseas)
