Monsoon Weather
Hey everyone! Got caught out in a nasty thunderstorm up on the Rim this Saturday. We were out hiking around Woods Canyon Lake and doing a little fishing. We watched a big black cloud head our way, watched the lake become empty of people and started to get soaked. The rain wasn't bad, but the then the hail started....Fortunately we found a rock outcropping we could crouch under. We had a truly amazing view of the storm, the lightening, and the steam fog off of the lake. Saw lightening blow the top off of a tree, and then watched the tree burn in a downpour. It was a truly awe-inspiring reminder of Mother Nature's power! And believe me, I won't be out again this time of year with out a $2 rain poncho! Just a reminder to watch the weather and be safe out there!

Randy, Mrs Mike & I watched that storm roll across northern AZ from high up on the slopes of Escudilla Mountain, near Alpine. We even bailed out of our hike about 1/2 mile from the top because we were worried the storm was heading towards us. As it turned out, Escudilla was on the northeastern edge of the storm and the weather missed us. On the way back home, we saw lots of puddles around Heber and Woods Canyon Lake. That was one dark and massive storm we saw from up there! Glad you guys were able to shelter yourselves from it!
