Wildfire near Kitt Peak has burned more than 5,700 acres

A wildfire burning in the Baboquivari Mountains near Kitt Peak is almost contained, authorities said. The Three Peaks Fire is 90 percent contained and most of the firefighters and other workers have been moved from the blaze, according to the Tohono O’odham Nation. The remote fire, which began Monday morning, has burned more than 5,700 acres in the mountains, south of Kitt Peak. Authorities will continue to monitor the fire until it is completely contained. A cause has not been determined. No structures were threatened.
