Hey, AZ hikers -
A Michigan hiker here, planning to take a group to the eastern Superstitions for 6-7 days in the beginning of May. Everything depends on the water supply, though. Did a similar trip in October 2007, found water only at Reavis Ranch, but loved it nonetheless and eager to go back. What can we expect to find in May? Does Reavis Ranch ALWAYS have water? Anywhere else we can expect to find it, given the winter you've had?
Appreciate any input, and reports from the next couple months! Thanks!

Re: water in E. Supes in May?
May is a crapshoot, it will likely be hot by May. How hot? That's the crapshoot. You will generally be at higher elevations in May, so that helps. Early May will be better than late May.
We've had alot of water, so there may be some places that have more than usual. However Reavis Creek is generally the only reliable source in May, spots in Fish Creek are likely, with a few obscure springs I've never been to rounding off the remaining possibilities. i.e. Walnut Spring.
It can take quite awhile for the creeks to dry up. My guess is that you will be able to find some stagnant pools in unexpected places at least.

With the winter rains we have had, Reavis Spring north of the orchard should have water all summer. Search back on previous posts and you will find directions to the spring. If you can't find the directions PM me.

I am planning on the loop around Weaver's needle from the Peralta TH as an overnighter around the 18th. Anyone know how the water has been in that area?

From the recent postings you may want to consider a wet suit or at least a swim suit to cross some of those major canyon streams.

For the non locals: we got another 0.5-1.5 inches this last weekend. I doubt water will be a problem for anyone within the next 2 months.
