Dear Camelback Mountain,
I see you every day when I am on my way.
Driving to work I see you with your rocky spine,
And on my way back home at half past nine.
I see you on my ride to church out in the west,
And love to climb your jagged peaks when stressed.
I've seen you from across the way when sitting on Squaw Peak,
And all the many houses built around you oh SO chic.
I've seen the way each hiker beats upon your back,
And what you do to weaker souls who just can’t hack.
You even have a road that’s in your name.
You’re one of Arizona’s claims to fame!
Yet what a shame it is too see I think,
My loney camel in a cloud of stink --
A cloud of smog that shrouds your beauty, shrouds your grace.
Forgotten is the thought of leave no trace.
Ya know, we humans have a lot to do
to make up what we've done to you.
