Cat on the menu
Observed two coyotes this week with cats, usually it has been a dog. Also observed three bobcats, mule deer, one whitetail and numerous javelina.

Oh, I thought this thread was going to be about the best Chinese food in Globe ...

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Cat on the menu
I thought it was going to be about BBQ mountain lion...which I have actually eaten. Tasted just like chicken...you could have used it to make Chinese food, in fact...

Re: Cat on the menu
I've had mountain lion also, but I thought it tasted more like Rattlesnake...
Seriously, I didn't think the flavor was chicken, it was suprisingly sweet - But maybe that's due to the way it was cooked, which I was not privvy to. I do know it was much better than the bear meat (this was a wild game bbq event I went to years ago) - Bear was way greasy!

Re: Cat on the menu
Paulhubbard, was the wild game BBQ event at the Sabino Tucson Rod and Gun Club, before it was forced to close? That is where I had it. I thought it was the best thing on my plate. The javelina was terrible--it was just simply flippin' gross-out barfo disgusting--and it got mixed in with the rest of my food, so that I could not finish my plate, and was looking around for someone's poodle or pit bull to feed... But the mountain lion was tasty. However, they would not give anyone seconds on that, since they didn't have very much of it.
This would have been around 1995 or '96.

Re: Cat on the menu
No, this was a private affair (as in not sponsored by any club) in the mid 70's in the Rimrock area. Best I remember it was just a bunch of people who were avid hunters who got together for a bbq. Javelina is okay if it's prepared right, pineapple is the best at hiding the gameiness, but then it just tastes kinda like pork. So why bother.

Re: Cat on the menu
I personally no longer have much interest in hunting, partly because it is a pain in the neck to deal with the meat, and also because I just don't eat much meat these days. It is a lot cheaper to just go camping and bring a camera. Lots less hassle, too. I am not against hunting, but if I do it again, I will go with people who have the wherewithall to take care of the meat quickly and efficiently.

When I was stationed in Korea, we had a company XO that brought her cat over with her. She lived off-camp and said her neighbors in the unit below hers were always eye-balling her cat around dinner time...chumley wrote:Oh, I thought this thread was going to be about the best Chinese food in Globe ...
