Fremont and Doyle Peaks
The plan is to leave from Schultz Tank around 10 am and hike to Doyle Saddle. From there we will hike up to Fremont and Doyle Peaks. See the 22 year old register on Doyle and the even older cabin which is falling apart. It will be a little early to have peak color on the Weatherford, but it should still be good and will hopefully be a nice day.

Re: Fremont and Doyle Peaks
For the interest of others, what do you think the mileage and elevation estimates would be for this? 13-14 miles and 4300 feet AEG?

Re: Fremont and Doyle Peaks
There's a cabin on Doyle? I should have stayed another day and gone for those. I also noticed a trail branching off from about halfway down on Weatherford that looked like a ridiculously steep back way to Fremont. Or was it created by ten thousand people who had to find out where that little trail goes?

Re: Fremont and Doyle Peaks
I think I'll most likely be there, too. Gotta see what my girlfriend's work schedule is that weekend. If I go hiking on her day off-- I'll be in trouble.

Hate to do this, but I think I'm going to have to cancel. I need to double check the dates but it looks like I've got a family thing I have to go to do on this day

Re: Fremont and Doyle Peaks
Hey Jim, do you have any comment on this? I'm not sure if I could pinpoint it on the map, but there is something more substantial than a game trail that heads off in that direction. I wasn't in the mood to explore it very far.big_load wrote:I also noticed a trail branching off from about halfway down on Weatherford that looked like a ridiculously steep back way to Fremont. Re: Fremont and Doyle Peaks
I wish I had marked it. It was just about where the aspens ended, coming off the left side (going up) of one of those switchbacks whose left sides seem to be on a ridge of Fremont. I wish I had realized at the time that my curiosity would linger.Jim_H wrote:Can you be more specific to the location?big_load wrote:Hey Jim, do you have any comment on this? Re: Fremont and Doyle Peaks
It may be just an animal trail. I've been on a few up there that are really well trodden. Some areas of the grassy south slope are almost covered in them.

I know, I'm bummed. Someday. The Voltron reference reminds me of 36 Chambers....Tough_Boots wrote: lame! I thought this trip would give our beards a chance to join-- like Voltron!
