My lease in Flagstaff is up at the end of the year and I want to be able to give 30 days notice at the beginning of December to leave here when my lease expires. I have no reason to stay in Flagstaff anymore, and while I have considered a short term living situation in Sedona, I think it makes more sense to go somewhere like Tucson which will be almost completely new to me (I visited 2 times before) and temporary employment options will probably be greater than in a town with fewer than 10,000 people.
Housing is the main issue, and all of this depends on me not getting a permanent career type job. I figure, with the second great depression on, that isn't likely. Is anyone looking to rent a room for a short term period of less than 6 months, but possibly longer? If not, does anyone know of anyone doing this? I here people talk about craig's list, but it is just full of complexes advertising their apartments. I would prefer not to have to have a lease or live in an apartment. If not, where is a good spot in town to try to do this on my own and what are the areas to avoid?

Post your own ad one Craig's List...that's how I found my current roommate. I found it way easier than sorting through all the garbage.

Flag is way smaller though. There's a 1/10th of the listing up here compared to down there. That is worth a try, but I know I wouldn't want to sift through all that junk just to attempt to find me.
It is disturbing to see that, for less than what I pay for my 1 bedroom in Flagstaff, I could have a 3 bedroom single family home in Tucson. Some are pretty new, too. Lots of reasons to leave Flagstaff, everyday of the year.

If you don't want to go quite that far south, I've got a room in Tempe that's looking for an occupant. And I would only occasionally start weather-related arguments. :STP:
