Is anyone familiar with the Great Western Trail? Tortoise Hiker, rally_toad & I saw this sign while hiking the Stewart Dam Petroglyphs area. Tonight I happened to Google this and found that it is a trail that stretches from Mexico to Canada, through Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming & Montana. It appears that most if not all of the Arizona trails in the GWT are not part of the Arizona Trail. Looks really interesting ... I haven't found a lot of detail on which trails are used though, any idea where we can all get those?

Re: Great Western Trail
I think it is a Jeep trail. I have seen a sign for it west of Flagstaff, just north of the 40 where we took a pee stop one time, but I can't remember which exit we used.

Re: Great Western Trail
It goes by the Blue Point Rec area off the Bush Hwy. As far as I can tell, at that section it just follows the dirt road and isn't a typical trail.

I think it is for Jeeps to go a long way.

Re: Great Western Trail
It is for Jeeps, and the AZT and the GWT run nearby each other for a short time north of Jacob Lake.
