NEW GROUP - Volunteering for Public Lands

Post by aleahsato »

A new volunteer group is being formed. It would be great to have more help from the knowledgable, passionate hiking community. Please forward to anyone interested.

Cheers and thanks!

---------------------
Arizonans Acting to Protect Public Lands (AAPPL) is an on-the-ground, citizen-based volunteer group dedicated to monitoring, restoring and advocating for the health and well being of our shared public lands. We will work closely with federal and state agencies to serve as the volunteer "eyes and ears" on BLM and Forest Service managed areas - monitoring any degradation and working to repair areas that have been trashed by illegal OHV use, dumping, and other forms of human impact on the land.

We are a completely volunteer based group working in positive collaboration with lands agencies and nonprofits. We have no political or financial ties to any entity, and serve only those needs that best represent land health in the state of Arizona. This is not a lobbying group, nor will we be throwing black tie fundraising parties in Scottsdale. This is a simple concept: work! =) But we have fun, too!

AAPPL is a roll-up-your-sleeves group! Expect to get dirty, use tools, and play well with others. The choice of the word, "Acting", is not an accident! We will be actively cleaning up and ensuring the ongoing good condition of the beautiful lands surrounding us.
