I think it belongs to the Nature Conservancy.

Mule Shoe Preserve is the name now, and yes it is a Nature Conservancy property. There is little there that wasn't there 50 years ago, no commercial development, many miles of gravel road to get there. http://www.nature.org/wherewework/north ... 22005.html

Re: Hooker Hot Springs
Thanks Sredfield for that link. Thanks all who answered this thread. I hadn't thought about Hooker Hot Springs so much as a destination. More as a waypoint, wondering what was there and if we'd want to stop by on a thru trip.
In Oregon where I live the Nature Conservancy is known to buy up bits of habitat threatened by commercial development. They have a pretty good rep for their management and choices. Didn't know they sometimes run for profit businesses like this one.
Could be this one is a bit hoity for our rabble. Or maybe not. Its always good to learn about new places.
