Backpacking Supes: Storing food overnight

Post by edent3 »

Will be out in Superstition Mountains next week and wanted info on storing food overnight. Are there trees to throw up a Bear Bag or should we bring Bear Cannisters to store food to keep away from critters, etc. Any advise appreciated!

You need to tell us where you are camping. Are you in the scrub or the ponderosas?

I use an Ursack, which works great even in the scrub.

+1 on the ursack (minor) http://www.ursack.com/ursack-catalog.htm weighs less than any ratsack and is not prone to poke holes in your silnylon pack when you stuff it. also, compresses or rolls up very small.
