Romero Pools/Canyon
Tucsoners....thinking about doing a short overnight trip with some newbie backpackers this weekend. I'm thinking about the Romero Pools, maybe even above that to the Old Trail camp in Romero Canyon, depending on how everyone's feeling. With the snowmelt underway, I would expect there to be water in the creek, but I'd like to be sure of course. Anybody been up there lately that can comment on the creek flowing or not? Thanks!

Re: Romero Pools/Canyon
Thanks! Good to know. Probably bring along some extra water just in case, or tank up at the Romero Pools.

Re: Romero Pools/Canyon
You probably won't want to filter that water this time of year. I would haul extra and count on the stuff sitting there (Literally) as a backup...

Re: Romero Pools/Canyon
I was at the pools themselves on the 15th. The water was running and looked pretty good for filtering. It's been 2 weeks, though.

Re: Romero Pools/Canyon
We ended up at the Old Trail Camp (someone else called it "The Spring"), but up there, water was running quite well. Not sure for how much longer, but at least the next couple weeks, there will be water up that high.
We were way above the crowds, so wasn't too worried about contaminants, etc. Thanks for the tips, guys! Great area...
