PRESCOTT — A Japanese tourist has died in what Yavapai County authorities believe was a hiking mishap at Bell Rock near Sedona.
The 51-year-old woman was reported missing from a Sedona resort Wednesday.
Deputies searched a trailhead and found a body matching the woman’s description Thursday afternoon.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says it appears the woman fell 50 to 100 feet from a ledge on the rock’s face and died from her injuries.
Detectives are investigating but authorities do not suspect foul play.
The Sheriff’s Office is in contact with the Japanese Consulate for assistance in locating the woman’s family back in Japan.

--On the loose to climb a mountain, on the loose where I am free. On the loose to live my life the way I think my life should be...For we only have a moment and a whole world yet to see...I'll be looking for tomorrow on the loose. ---unknown--
