A 64-year-old Flagstaff man died in a bicycling accident Tuesday on Schultz Creek Trail.
According to information from the Coconino County Sheriff's Office, James Lounsbery was discovered at about 2:30 p.m. by another cyclist coming up the trail. The cyclist said Lounsbery was lying near a damaged mountain bike and appeared to be seriously injured.
Medics conducted lifesaving efforts on the victim while he was being transported to Flagstaff Medical Center. Hospital staff continued lifesaving efforts, but later pronounced him dead.
According to investigators, Lounsbery had traveled in a vehicle to the top of Mount Elden with a family member. He then made the decision to ride his bicycle down several trails while the family member drove the vehicle.
The cause of death remains under investigation.

I would suspect that he probably broke his neck.
