Rainbow Bridge
Some of you have read Star's story on my web site. This morning Lady joined Star at the Rainbow Bridge.
Vom Rojac's Lady Evenstar, SC, FCh, December 14, 1989 October 18, 2002 Be at peace my Lady Love.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I remember one piece of advice found in the "Life's Little Instructions" book was, 'Always have a dog'. It's good advice.
Rainbow Bridge makes me think about how completely sincere and unconditional my dog's affection for me is. No matter what kind of a day I've had, or what kind of a person I've been, my dog is always genuinely glad to see me.
We could all stand to learn a few things from our dogs. Rest in Peace Lady Evenstar.

Thanks all....Lady had abdominal cancer and I had to make that most terrible decision that any pet owner can make. Life goes on; just has a big empty spot in it now that memory of her can partially, but never completely, fill.

Hoolie - my deepestsympathies.
I've never had the fortune of having a pet that really found a way into my heart. I've never really been the sole owner of a dog or cat for long enough for that to happen. Even though you experienced a deep loss - feel happy that you had a pet that was so much a part of your life. I hope one day to have a similar experience. I won't look forward to it ending - but I will look forward to it happening.
I'd also like to share that experience with my whole family (which it sounds like was the life you had with both Lady and Star). I've seen what a joy a true family pet can bring to a home - and I envy you for your blessings.

Thanks Olesma, Lady came to me when she was nine weeks old and instantly stole my heart; then she gave me Bo & Dew, whelped in my bedroom on New Year's eve almost ten years ago...what a great legacy. She was special....

Oh Hoolie what sad news. What is it with these doggie cancers? Has it always been this way, I don't know but I don't like it. I know exactly how you feel and mourn with you even tho I didn't know Lady I always loved her picture and know how special she was to you. I know she's with the doggies we've all loved and lost at Rainbow Bridge and somehow I can't wait to get there.

Peace my friend
My friend John,
I got back from my trip to the canyon last night around 12:00 AM. joe shortened the list and I didn't see your post, I am truly sorry for your loss my friend. I have been in your place before and I know your pain. I long for the company of a dog every day, even though I told myself my last dog was my last. There are two deaths I still cry about every once in a while, the result of mourning my two best friends, my stepmother Susan and my dog Bradley Benson Gartman. I got the pleasure of their company for approximately 16 years each. Enough time to build a lifetime of memories and lessons to remember each by.
My heart goes out for you.
May each of us find our Rainbow Bridge.

Olesma, the unconditional love and devotion that a dog brings into a family's life is very special. But right now I'd be hard pressed to advise anyone to get a dog because I'd almost ceertainly be condemning them, eventually, to the kind of pain I'm going through right now.
Kelly, I think that all the pollution we're pouring into our world is the cause of these doggie cancers; and they spend their lives right down at ground level catching the brunt of it.
Todd, Stepmother Susan and Bradley Benson Gartman taught their lessons well my friend. It's the kindness and good wishes of friends that helped me get through the loss of Star and will help me through the loss of Lady as well. I thank all of you for that.

Hoolie, I think getting a dog is the best thing someone can do. Every one of us is born to die: it's what we do in between that counts. Think about that little puppy that's being born right now, hoping you will come along soon and take it home and love it. Nothing can replace what you've lost; but there are other joyful things awaiting you!

Dog letters to God
Dear God,
How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom smell one another? Where are their priorities?
Dear God,
When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story?
Dear God,
Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle!
Dear God,
If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God,
Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps?
Dear God,
If we come back as humans, is that good or bad?
Dear God,
More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God,
When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in?
Dear God,
We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God,
Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the beagle across the street!
Dear God,
Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God,
Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets thing, again?
Dear God,
May I have my reproduction juice holders back? (Gotta be Bo askin' that!)
