Backpacker Magazine hike

Hey all,

I just got an email from Backpacker magazine as part of their "Get out quick - Make a hike" program and they're doing it right here in AZ this time! The idea behind the program is they want to show how cheap and easy it is to get last minute flights and carry little gear to make adventure trips around the country to cool hiking spots. So they get two editors from Backpacker magazine fly them somewhere and then they lead a hike / camp for whomever shows up. Well, they picked the San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff for this one so it's really close for us!

Anyways, I can't make it this weekend (doing the graduation rock climb with AMC) but it sounds like it could be fun to hook up with editors of a national outdoor magazine and do a quick trip. Maybe someone can plug HAZ and get in the magazine! They're meeting at 2:00pm this Saturday(10/26) in Flagstaff if anyone's interested...let me know and I can forward the email to you.

Sounds interesting! I wonder why they are choosing to do it in Flagstaff though. They would probably connect with more of their readers if they did this in Phoenix or Tucson.

The Southwest editor for Backpacker lives in Flagstaff.
