Hi,
We are heading down from Durango to Phoenix next weekend with our 11 and 13 year old daughters. We're looking for a low-elevation (warmer) 2-3 day backpacking trip with water. 5 miles a day is about the limit for the kids, and rocks to climb or places to explore are a big plus. From the threads I've reads, it looks like the Superstitions are the best bet, but I'd love some advice on the most kid-friendly routes and where we'd be likely to find water next week. Thank you!

Second Water Spring has water and its about 3.5 miles from the trailhead. There's a nice campsite right there or there's plenty of sites a little lower further off the main trail in Boulder Canyon if you want a little more seclusion. As far as rocks to climb and places to explore-- the Supes definitely have that
You'll find a big pool of water near the end of the trail where it gets really lush.
