River Access from Tonto between Cottonwood and Grapevine

Post by chumley »

While hiking the Tonto over the weekend, we encountered a very well-cairned route from the Tonto leading downward. We didn't have the time or effort to follow the route, but I assume it leads to the river. Possibly to the beach clearly visible on the Satellite photo across from where Vishnu Creek enters from the north?

The route begins at the crosshairs on this map, exactly 1.5 trail miles from the crossing of the western drainage leading into Cottonwood Creek.

It looks very intriguing, and I'd be very interested in exploring this route sometime but was hoping somebody might have some additional information?

Once old grandview was suggested I did a web search and found several detailed writeups on the route, in addition to that one. I hope to be able to add one to HAZ in the future!
