Anyone with kids will enjoy the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy's "Family Friday Sunset Series" at the Gateway trailhead. Tonight is on Leapin' Lizards with a ranger talk and live critters. Starts 4:30pm at either the front amphitheater or the one back by the Bajada Nature Trail. Target age is 3 years to around 11 years. Although I learn something every time and see plenty of grown ups there without kids.
I've been to a couple of these, and they are a fun, active-learning experience. Good way to get kids excited about nature and hiking. They know what kids like: gross out stuff

(plastic poop from desert animals), scary stuff

(sounds, stories), and free stuff

(coloring pages, junior ranger books and stamps).
See you there!
