Okay, since dispersed camping is not allowed anywhere near Blue Ridge Res. (CC Cragin) my alternative is Chevelon Lake. Question is how is Chevelon Ridge Road?? Is it super rough? We do have 4x4 Yukon, and pulling a pop-up (high Clearance)
Directions per Google maps
Rim Road to Deer Lake Canyon Fire Road, then Right on Chevelon Ridge Road. Seems to be some decent camping spots there.
Thoughts?

Chevelon is on the A-S forest which also has new travel management rules, though they have implemented them differently from coconino. I haven't been to chevelon since the new rules but in general they are the same. 30 feet from the road in some areas, 300 feet in others. Never more than 300. On A-S signs on the road let you know, whereas coconino makes you use the online map.
Chevelon has a developed/dispersed campground above the dam (no fee) and I would expect that anywhere near it does not allow the 300-foot dispersed, only the 30-foot... But I don't know that for sure.
What I do know is that the hike to the lake from the campground above chevelon is a real chore. A long and very steep hike on an unshaded hot sunny old road.
It is also a significantly longer drive on dirt roads to get to chevelon versus blue ridge. The benefit being that you may find a bit more solitude since not everybody wants to drive so far!
If your plan was originally blue ridge via battleground ridge, I would stick with that. Just stay within the new travel rules.

The 300 road from Woods Canyon Lake was recently graded. Go west of Woods Canyon turn off on the 9350 road and set up camp over looking the Rim or on the other side of the road back from the Rim.

I looked for the A-S map/rules, but couldn't find any. Camping 30 feet from the road doesn't sound pleasant and it's been awhile since it's rained, so it will be dusty.
Why do they make it difficult? You can't even camp anywhere now. I just want to know where to go and have to drive around for 4 hours trying to find somewhere to camp.
