Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting - Day Trip
I'm organizing a 1-day (full day) raft trip for Sunday, October 6, 2013, 7:30am. Arrangements are through the Hualapai River Runners in Peach Springs.
http://www.grandcanyonwest.com/rafting.php
If this sounds like your style of adventure, lets meet up and raft the GC. Reservations can be made from the attached link. *IMPORTANT* - Use the promo code - FALL3013 if booking on/after Sept 1 2013 - to save over $80 off the posted price. If booking before Sept 1, 2013, use promo code FALL2513 for a 25% discount. Price, after discount, will be around $300/person for the full day.
***following info extracted from the website***
Begin to explore the Grand Canyon walls over the white water rapids of the Colorado River. Hike up to Travertine Falls, a natural waterfall, with your experienced guide. Hear about the history and culture of the Hualapai people. Look for local wildlife while enjoying lunch along the banks of the river. Continue through the Grand Canyon on a smooth water ride viewing the towering canyon from a unique perspective. Complete your adventure with a helicopter flight up to the top of Grand Canyon West, home of the Skywalk. Rafts depart from Peach Springs, Arizona on Historic Route 66 from the Hualapai Lodge and ground transportation returns you to Peach Springs. All this in just one day!

This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee.

If you don't have time for a full Canyon trip, but can spring for this one, go with Rick--you won't regret it!

I consider this just a warm-up run to a most desired full canyon run. I ran the upper and lower Gauley in West Virginia last year, now I'm hooked on whitewater.azbackpackr wrote:If you don't have time for a full Canyon trip, but can spring for this one, go with Rick--you won't regret it!

PROMO CODE UPDATE -- If booking before Sept 1, 2013, use promo code FALL2513 (25% discount). Any bookings on or after Sept 1, 2013 should use FALL3013 (30% discount). Bigger discount for waiting, but those who wait risk "missing the boat."

I won't know until the end of August if I can swing it, so I'll have to take a chance I guess.... ;)

Re: Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting - Day Trip
Judging by the size of the discount in the promo, I'm guessing that business starts to slow down and thus the big incentive to book a trip. Gut instinct tells me you will get in. Good luck...Would be fun to share the experience with you and other HAZ'ers.Outdoor Lover wrote:I won't know until the end of August if I can swing it, so I'll have to take a chance I guess.... ;)

Re: Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting - Day Trip
Sorry to hear Pam. I'm looking forward to this trip with a few friends who are already on board. We are going to follow-up with a couple kayak days down the Colorado (below Hoover Dam and perhaps Topock). Going to enjoy a few days off.

Re: Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting - Day Trip
Have fun Rick!!! I really did want to do this, but like I said, I just can't swing both things within a Month and my other Destination is a really good opportunity for me and a good excuse to be somewhere I've never been....Looking forward to some awesome pictures from you though!!!!

Re: Grand Canyon Whitewater Rafting - Day Trip
US government couldn't stop my fun this week. The raft trip went on. Great white water hits soaked us from head to toe. Also, can't beat the scenery.
Kayaking through the Black Canyon from Hoover Dam was cancelled, but we found plenty of other great places to visit.
