I was just over in that area twice in the last month or so. Burned pretty bad around Bonito Lake; campgrounds (Westlake & Southfork) are closed as are trails from there. Crest Trail is open except for near ski area. All other trails are open. Best bet is to continue on the road past Bonito Lake to the Argentine/Bonito trailhead. There are some nice camp spots along the road. Good loop hikes from there to Crest. Stop at the ranger station in Ruidoso for info. There is a large information kiosk outside with good handouts.
