Walnut Spring

Post by FOTG »

January 11-12, 2014

Way short notice, but I will be going in Campaign TH on Saturday morning, hiking to Walnut Spring, setting up camp, throwing on day-pack and then doing some exploring. I don't have anything set in stone for itineraries from Walnut, however, there is lots to do in area, I may be looking for ruins, and doing some minor off-trail stuff. Although, if anyone was interested would not mind visiting the "chock stone" again on the Upper Pine Creek, pretty cool worth the trip, see Hiker's Guide to Eastern Supes for more info on area.

Will be leaving Phoenix very early in morning, short hike to Walnut Spring, a decent elevation gain, if never been to Campaign Creek area, definitely worth the trip a very unique and less visited section of the Superstitions. I have a cool little site I like to camp at, will make for some great sunsets and rises :)

Only commitments so far are Blanco and Cup, but they kind of have no choice, feel free to tag-along even if looking at piles of rocks are not your thing, there are easy side-trips in area, I will be going regardless so have not problem picking people up along 60...

That should be interesting. I've always been struck by the changes in flora and soil types across such a short span in that area.
