I have an orange Gregory Palisades 80 back pack bought at REI in July of 2008. I last used it at the start of 2012 when I packed overnight above Red Mountain pass in CO. On descent, the hip strap broke. Due to not have an address in Kayenta which was recognized by the outside world, I never bothered to ship the pack to Gregory to have the strap fixed. When I spoke to them, they said there was some issue with materials, I don't know. Don't care. I think they offered to replace or repair the strap at no charge.
The pack volume was fine for long 5 day trips or carrying rope and gear for climbs, but the hip strap was synched as tight as could be and was still too big for my 31 to 32 inch waist, and the over all size of the pack straps was too big. It's a small or a medium. This was only apparent when loaded with weight, usually 50 to 80 pounds.
Best offer.

Re: For Sale Gregory Palisades 80
Most honest sales pitch I have ever heard...its a medium or small, straps are too big, hip strap broke first time out, and it wont fit an average man's waist...best offer...

Re: For Sale Gregory Palisades 80
Well, it didn't break the first time out, I had been using it for 4 years.

Re: For Sale Gregory Palisades 80
It actually was/ is a very good pack. I don't understand their sizing, as I am not small. I'm 5'11", and have a 31 to 32 inch waist. I know Americans are generally larger, but my waist is hardly tiny. These were only issues with heavy weights when I tried to tighten the straps and keep the pack from putting all of it's weight on my shoulders and having the waist strap slide down over my pelvis and be tight on my hips, around my femurs. I guess most back packers are 6' 9" 250 pounds, and have a 38" waist? Pure muscle, of course. I used to have the waist strap way beyond what was considered a minimum. Really, it was ridiculous.
