Dog Training

Post by RowdyandMe »

I got my new rescue dog about 10 days ago. I know their are a lot of dog owners here.
So I would like to know of a good place for training. I do plan on hiking with him. So I want him trained for hiking and being around people, snakes and other dogs.
I would appreciate any information.
Thanks

Can you go to Tucson? I know a woman hiker who is a super dog trainer, certified in at least one method.

I've taken all my dogs to Petsmart training class. It is a great class. There's lots of other dogs and people in each class so the dog becomes acclimated to being around others fast. The class goes through the basics, then give you homework and tricks to make sure the training sticks with your dog after you leave.

As for places to take your dog to get exposure to other dogs and people, any of the trails on the north side especially on the weekends. Keep your dog on a short leash because your dog may be well behaved but a lot of other dogs are not ;)

Well I am excited. I hired a dog trainer and he is starting on Fathers Day.
I am excited to save and train this dog. I will be his best friend and he will be mine.
I don't plan on to many hikes with him this summer. But I will take him on short ones for now.
But I am looking forward this Fall to hiking with him in the Superstitions.
