Two nights in December

Post by matthewkphx »

Any recommendations for a two night hike in late December? I'm thinking something around 15-25 miles.

I do not have a high clearance vehicle...

My thought is somewhere in the western Supes from the Canyon Lake trailhead but I'm concerned that Boulder Creek will be dry and our first water (lol) would be at Charlebois.

Reavis Ranch sounds a little high and chilly.

Anything up by Cave Creek or in the Mazatzals? I've not hiked or backpacked up there before.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Boulder Creek usually has water in the winter, but I haven't been tracking the water reports. Cave creek is also pretty nice, plenty of camping options there as well. So both your options sound good, just start checking water reports, and feel free to post them after your trip to help the next guy.
