Sleeping Bags - I'm 6 feet tall

Hi Guys
I am having a real dilemma. I am six feet with wide shoulders. I have ordered and sent back 2 bags that are too narrow at the shoulders.
I will be starting march 12th at the south end of the trail.I can wait to purchase in the states once I arrive from Canada if shippimg is an issue etc.
Of course weight is my biggest concern but I can't afford to spend $500 us or $700 canadian on a bag.
Please, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.I would even consider a gently used one if available (arriving Phoenix March 6th)

I would probably just head to REI when you get here...They have a lot of Bags on Display and you can "try them on" and check the Weight to see what will work for you...

As someone who is 6' 7", I feel your pain.

I'd recommend a Down Quilt from Enlightened Equipment or another "cottage company" (zpacks, feathered friends, ect..). Quilts are light and versatile, but make sure you have a good ground pad and a beanie for your head.

Here is the one I currently own. http://www.enlightenedequipment.com/revelation/ It might cut it close on the shipping time though, as it takes 6 - 8 weeks for them to make the quilt.

EE has been very accommodating. I was in a similar situation before I started the Colorado Trail last summer, emailed them about the situation and they pulled through to make sure I had my quilt before my start date. Also, I recently had one of the snap buttons come off and they mailed me the tool to fix it, and some extra buttons, for FREE.

My only gripe is that I feel you need to add about 10 - 15 degrees to these quilts for comfort. I got a 20 degree quilt and I'm always putting on extra layers (long johns and/or down jacket) if it dips below high 30s (but I also sleep cold anyway).

I recently purchased the sierra designs back country bed in long. I am 6 foot tall as well with broadish shoulders. I am also a stomach sleeper. I couldn't be more pleased with it.

I would try it on and make sure it works for you. Just my $.02

Western Mountaineering Alder (newest version of what was formerly known as the 'Aspen MF').
WM bags hold their value like no other, bringing 80%+ of list price, used - consider it 'renting' it.
Also, check craigslist and the like.

I'm 6-1, used an REI sub-kilo down, I'm sure it was less than $200, liked it so much I ordered another half way thru.

great! tim is a wonderful cottage industry quilt maker. since i stopped making top quilts, i've been eyeing something from him or hammockgear.com - you can't find this kinda awesome gear in box retailers.
