Didn't see any trail logs since spring.
Just doing an easy hike from Chevelon to Durfee tomorrow to relax and hide from the world. Wondering how bad the brush is this year. It seems to vary year by year.
Planning on hiking in, setting up camp, and relaxing for two nights. Crawdads alfredo and raspberries in my oatmeal ...I love Chevelon. I expect I'll get rained on.
Anyone do Chevelon Crossing to Durfee rcently?

@ljcygnet
I don't have a clue what Durfee is. Last Monday I went to Rock Art Ranch in lower Chevelon, saw all the new excavations and a ton of petroglyphs, and swam there, too. Got in for free because of connections I have. (I didn't post it yet.) Tuesday I paddled the lower Chevelon Creek reservoir, which is also way down near Winslow. (No, not East Clear Creek, I know the difference.) I plan a short backpack from Chevelon Crossing upstream toward the dam at the end of August with some friends. Here's my lower Chevelon Creek reservoir triplog and photos:

Another friend wants to take me white water kayaking on a part of the creek which is "only" Class III, but I don't think it's running high enough right now to do that. He says I'd do fine in a ducky. I'm not so sure! Parts of it are Class IV.
Chevelon Canyon is about 40 or 50 miles long, so there is plenty to explore.

Durfee is a few miles south of Chevelon Crossing. Nice area -- it was a CCC camp in the 1930s and there's a huge meadow and an enormous pool of water that must stretch a half mile.
It's always brushy with a lot of brambles, but some years are worse than others. Probably depends on how bad the winter was.

@ljcygnet
I've probably been there, since I've hiked most of the way to the dam from Chevelon Crossing. However, that was 12 years ago. Thanks for the description! We will watch for it on our hike later this month. (Yes, August has arrived!)
