food/water cache between Flagstaff and Tusayan

Post by mando »

Looks like a pretty good haul between Flagstaff and Tusayan. If I wanted to break up the load between Flagstaff and Tusayan, what would be a good place to leave a food and water cache? Especially food. I think there is a resupply box at mile marker 625.6, at Cedar Ranch trailhead. Anyone with experience using it? Another location?

There is a resupply box at the Cedar Ranch TH. You'll hit that the second day out of Flagstaff so is it really worth the effort to make it all the way out there to drop stuff off? There is water nearby too. Personally, I sectioned from Elden Pueblo in Flagstaff to South Rim, 110 miles in five days and didn't cache anything. I'd do that again.
