Phacelia crenulata Comments
Annual to 18 inches high, with sticky, bristly stems. Rancid drift Emits onionlike (rancid drift [copyright: joe bartels]) odor when foliage is crushed or stem is broken. The name "scorpionweed" refers to curling flowerhead that resembles a scorpion's erect tail. Flowers Violet-purple, bell-shaped, with 5 rounded, united petals; to 1/4" wide,; in finely haired, terminal coilsl Leaves Dark green, hairy, much-divided, variable; to 5" long Habitat Roadsides, desert washes, and desert flats.
