Description: San Juan Anthropomorphic figures are either petroglyphs or pictographs. They generally consist of large bodied figures with attenuated limbs, often lacking any finger or toe details. Figures can often have elaborate headdresses or "power lines" emminating from the head. Torsos can either be solid, outlined, or filled with patterns or figures. Figures can often be larger than life.
This style is found all along the San Juan River from New Mexico to its junction with the Colorado, up to the Escalante River, south to Houserock Valley, and west to Zion National Park.
