Barrier Canyon Style rock art images are mostly pictographs, but some petroglyphs exist. The humanoid figures generally have elongated torsos with reduced or absent legs. They are often painted larger than life. Heads can be plain or detailed, with horns or headdresses being present on some figures. Some are quite broad-shouldered, possibly giving rise to later Fremont forms of rock art.

Animal figures are similar to Glen Canyon's linear styles, absent the internal body decorations. Abstract figures can include zig-zags similar to Chihuahuan Polychrome and shield figures, among others.
