Tamaki Corral, a historic old corral from about 100 years ago.
Built in the Hind era of Pu'u Wa'awa'a Ranch, this corral supported cattle operations on the prime grazing areas atop the cinder cone. The deep soils supported grasses suitable for grazing. The corral is made of native Kauila posts and importated pine.
The cement blocks near the Tamaki Corral in the Pu'u Wa'awa'a Forest Reserve are part of the old Tamaki Homestead, which was a dairy farm in the area. The blocks likely formed part of the structures or foundations of buildings and other features of the farm. The area is now a popular hiking spot, and the cement blocks are remnants of the former homestead.
