The kids loved looking for elk. We found the best way to see them was to slowly cruise up and down FR139c in the early morning or at dusk in the car. Using this technique we successfully spotted elk four out of five drives over three days. Hiking just did not work with Bella loudly whistling one of the Star Wars themes and Michael practicing his elk call. This guy paused long enough for me to get his photo through the passenger window.
