Sloping south towards Washington Park Trailhead. This part of the Arizona Trail passage 27 is one of the most challenging outside of the Grand Canyon on the entire 800 miles! Most of the 1200 feet lower happens in the first mile! The children would have mutinied me had we done this part of the Arizona Trail in a northbound direction! One of the best parts of Segment Hiking the AZT is we get to choose which way we are going to tackle the task!
