Looking closely at the center panel, there is a strange scratched 'grid' apparent under (I assume) the pecked images. You may be able to see it ending at the upper left part of the photo.

Interestingly, the images seem to conform to the angles of the grid, though the grid itself is so obscured by the pecked glyphs I find it impossible to make out as a whole.
