at the boat dock shore overlooking Two Medicine Lake. You are looking at Appistoki Peak and Mount Henry.
Appistoki Peak was named by R. T. Evans, a topographer who worked on mapping the park. According to the park records, Evans inquired from his Native American guide what word the Blackfeet used for “looking over something,” and the guide, misunderstanding the meaning of his question responded “Appistoki,” for the Blackfeet spirit who looks over everything and everyone.
Due to its location Mount Henry played an important role during the days of trail rides (The Inside Trail trip) in Glacier National Park. In fact prior to World War Two there was a large bell on its summit that hikers could ring. For more information on the trail rides see https://www.summitpost.org/centennial-s ... ils/472386 You should check out the link to look at the pictures, that was quite some trail rides back in the day.
