One of many "Emerald Green Pools" in the canyon narrows. These pools were likely the source of the name, Emerald Lode, given to the "the small but immensely rich gold deposit" found in 1877 on the hill above these pools by two prospectors. The hill was later named Cramm Mtn after one of the two prospectors, Richard Cramm. Cramm camped at the base of the hill for several years working the mine while his partner went on to search for riches in California. Cramm stayed at his camp for a number of years but never patented the Emerald Lode and it eventually was abandoned.
