One thing with my phone it can get a lot in a vertical shot. Looking to the east you can see part of Mescal Mtn and then Wilson Mtn in center. I like seeing the side of this mountain that used to be partially emerged in a sea; at least that's my understanding.

The steepness of the terrain is due the fact that the top layers of the strata are composed of basalt and limestone, which are harder than the underlying sandstone. Water running off the edge of the escarpment eats away at the lower layers, creating the shear cliffs.
