This is a picture from the top of the dam looking east. The homestead is on the right. Back in Grandma's day, none of those trees were there. She would eventually go down to the Marias and get some Cottonwood saplings to plant around the big house they built in 1927. Several of those are still standing to this day. My cousin Kenny planted a many-layered tree shelter belt starting in the 70s I believe. It's really quite fabulous.
