Blackfeet Knowledge -
For centuries, this mountain was known to the Blackfeet as "Natoyistak".
The mountain played an important role in the Blackfeet knowledge system. The name was changed to Singleshot Mountain in the late 1800's by James Willard Shultz on the occasion of his friend, George Bird Grinnell, killing a mountain sheep with a single shot.
