Here is a pano I put together of what we could see in front of us. And, of course, if you click on original, it's much more impressive. L to R: Curly Bear, Kakitos, Norris, Red Eagle, Fusillade (the horn where all the snow is in center), Going to the Sun, Goat, Otokomi and Singleshot.

According to Blackfeet knowledge, the ice patches or glaciers are the Wind-Maker's medicine. The Wind-Maker is the one who brings the snow, ice, cold winds, and fierce storms from the Far North in his battle with Sun, each day driving the Sun to the South. Though doing the best he can, the Wind-Maker always loses strength, his storms becoming weaker and weaker. As this happens, the Sun is then able to
turn back the cold and slowly warm the earth, melting the ice and snow as he drives the Wind Maker back into the Far North. But, in the early stages of the battle, the Wind-Maker made very strong medicine to aid him, depositing great sheets of ice along the "Back-Bone-of-the World", the Rocky Mountains. After making these glaciers, Wind-Maker said to the Sun:
"At this time you are stronger, but I leave this thick ice in places along my trail as a sign that I shall come again."
