Looking back at the Split Rock area. Check out that seemingly sliding boulder on the left. It looks like it will just slip to the ground.
A large amount of granite has formed beneath the surface as a result of multiple collisions between tectonic plates. The park’s oldest rocks are in the Cottonwood, Eagle, and Pinto mountains, and they date back to 1.7 billion years.
