| partners | | It was a good day visiting and "off trail" hiking again with Eric. Originally, we had plans to hike Jerky Butte--> http://www.hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=163680 , but due to this longer Sierra Ancha Mountains commute time and mileage, Eric came up with this other good choice which was just a few miles NE of Globe in the San Carlos Indian Reservation and would be a first time visit for me to the SCIR.
Along our rocky, low vegetation route, I really enjoyed the long distance mesa views north and east as we gained altitude to summit this dominant benchmark peak at 5299ft. The south, west, and 360 degree views from the summit top weren't bad either
After our hike finish, we took a drive further into the reservation lands to see the perennial "Warm Springs" area and then further in to view the TH Start area where Eric and Joe B. had previously hiked on May 1st- "San Carlos River at Warm Springs".
We finished up the day with another excellent stop at my now favorite dinner place to eat in Globe,AZ: Judy's Cook House.. http://hikearizona.com/dex2/igallery/im ... hp?id=4401 (Try it sometime and I bet you'll like it too!) |
