This is more of a day trip than an actual hike, but I found it to be a really great experience. We did upper antelope canyon. You park at the top where the family that owns the land has a stand set up. There you will pay the fees and get ready to go. Take water and a snack. From the top, the family has two trucks that will take groups down into the canyon. The road down is mostly sand and you have to take one of the trucks that they provide. The canyon is probably only 150 yards from end to end and the bottom is sand. When inside the canyon, the views are amazing. The widest spots are around 15 to 20' at the base and some spots are only 3 to 4' wide. The top of the canyon does not open up very wide, the widest is probably 4 feet. Spending a couple hours in the bottom sounds like a lot for such a small area, but it is worth it. The movement of the sun in the sky makes the color of the rocks and the lighting change dramatically over time. The walls turn purple and red and grey and orange. When the sun is directly overhead, beams of light shoot down into the canyon like lasers. It is unlike anything you have ever seen. The air in the canyon is cool and it is very relaxing in the bottom. If you go on this adventure, TAKE A CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress that enough. The things you will see, you will want to capture to look back on and experience for ever.
