| partners | | I don't know that I can add more except to say the guys did a great job driving. Lucky for me I got to enjoy the winter wonderland and document the event. We met just off the 87 at the Bush Highway so that I could switch from Hank's Grasshopper to the warmer environ of Jack's pickup.
As always, the drive is always so spectacular. When we got to the turn off there was a plow truck off to the side. Not sure what his mission was with blue skies and no snow on the highway that we could see. There was a very large cloud bank in the valley if you had continued on the highway to Payson. It was quite something.
As soon as we turned on to FR 201, it looked like we were in for some beautifully snow-covered scenery. The road conditions were not too bad but there were snowy sections. Of course, once we were on the north side, we were driving a snow-covered road. But I loved the scenery and was oooohhhhing and aaaawhing like I had never seen snow (though I was raised in Montana). One time we got a little behind and Grasshopper walkie-talkied back as to what happened and Jack said, "you remember who's riding with me; we had to stop to take a picture."
The guys stopped to remove a small tree log in the road. I offered to help but decided they could handle it and I would just film them. At the Trailhead all covered in snow, Hank trimmed around the sign holder and replaced the GPSJoe missing poster. We added a remembrance page for hikearizona.com and arizonahikers.com from GPSJoe's last posted pictures http://hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=13407 on HAZ. Here is the picture of the posts: http://hikearizona.com/t2011/11/09/3434 ... 09.jpg?v=0. It was hard for Hank . We all hope and that GPSJoe will soon be found. Jack took our group photo http://hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=219684 and we loaded back up for our Memorial Hike.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
