| no partners | | Morning, and the wind is ripping-away roofing, crashing about large potted plants - while bringing blooming Yucca to their knees... This is just how things are I thought to myself, as one must continually go into all kinds of weather as part the trekking life. The Dragoons, with a mild (yet steep) Hike & 4x4 pin-stripping adventure were on the mid-week block - regardless!
It's a 90 minute drive one-way to the beginning (my chosen trailhead point) of the hike-about up Soren Camp Road (FR 345A) from my place. It seems that this route should be tucked away on the lee side of the range - at least until just below Soren Pass and the topside which is much like a mini-mesa @ about 7,000'. The surrounding Madrean Sky Islands were all but obscured by the amount of dust mixed with smoke from minor continual fire outbreaks around the Huachuca Mountains. None-the-less the view from the top was spectacular to say the least! Headin' back out to the 'Goons' Friday to kick-about on the lower portion of the western slope...in the shadow of the Sheepshead perhaps. Avg. Grade 70.8% GPS Route Available
